Applying for the 2020-2021 YumaCats Scholarship

Once available, we will share information on how students (both high school and college transfer students) can apply for the 2020-2021 YumaCats Scholarship. Due to COVID-19, we are planning to have all meetings, interviews, etc. take place virtually through an online platform.

If you have any questions about the scholarship process, or wish to contact the committee, please feel free to reach out. No question is silly, and we would always love to help. You can email Scholarship Committee Chairwoman Gay Thrower at throwershome@hotmail.com.

The application process will be announced in the late fall of 2020. Please continue to check back for more information.

This year, we had a tougher time in raising funds for scholarships. Additionally, we were notified that the more than $16,000 we are given each year from the University of Arizona Alumni Association in collegiate license plate revenues would no longer be allocated to our local chapter. It was a revenue source that helped fund a big portion of our local students’ scholarships. We want you to know we are working hard to come up with new strategies and ways to fundraise so that we can continue providing support for our Yuma, Somerton, San Luis, Wellton and Roll future Wildcats.

Donors are needed:

If you or someone you know is interested in being a scholarship donor, please know that we would greatly appreciate it and can work with you on what type of donation you would like to make. Many of our donors choose to have a scholarship named in honor of a loved one, or opt to make their donation available for a specific type of recipient (i.e. a scholarship for a student pursuing a career in agriculture). Know that all of this is possible, and we would love to work with you to provide you with all the details. In a time when uncertainty is at a high, your generosity will go a long way in the foundation of a young student’s professional career. Thank you. You can contact Scholarship Committee Chairwoman Gay Thrower at throwershome@hotmail.com, or email us at yumacats123@gmail.com.
